The Weekly Echo 11/18

Between client meetings, user testing sessions, and a mobile start-up workshop, the EchoUser offices were buzzing with activity this week. The storm before the calm of Thanksgiving break? Perhaps. But we still had time to rustle up a few interesting reads. For example: We liked Yahoo researcher Judd Antin's take on why gamification isn't necessarily the answer to all your problems — and why games should be introduced in a more careful and nuanced way than just "badges for everyone!" As folks who often help clients "prioritize," we found that this 2009 piece struck a nerve: What's a real priority, and what's just "a thing you haven't done yet"? Robert Scoble has a few things he'd like to stay to startups about why he's treating them harshly these days. The coolest thing about these swanky shipping container homes is that sometimes, it's hard to tell they were made from shipping containers at all. The Weekly Echo will most likely be in a tryptophan coma next week, but we've got a few more posts up our sleeves before the turkey hits the table, so watch this space.
