Fail, Don't Follow

Dear Creative, Did you get into an industry fueled by creativity and innovation to pursue the safety of following? To walk a path softened and muddied by a thousand footsteps? No? I didn’t think so. We both know why you got into this industry. You joined up because you enjoy the battle. You enjoy the hunt. You stand behind The Cause. “The Cause” is the process of repetitive failure followed by the hope of innovative success. The process consumes you. You stay up late and you wake up early just to jot down an idea to prevent its loss to the detritus of the day. You do this on the off chance that it’ll be the one idea that makes your heart flutter and your brain buzz - knowing full well that it might flop. --- Failure is one of the truly worthwhile uses of our time. By failing, we’re proving that we're willing to pursue things that are not guaranteed. Failure is a willingness to try something new, dangerous, and unknown. Repetitive failure is the only prerequisite of being an artist. So go. Fail. Watch something explode. Learn something. Enjoy yourself. Repeat. Sincerely, A Fellow Creative
